Profile of A.I.W.C Schools
In the year 1948, the then President of W.I.A Tmt.Radhabai Subbarayan and her able secretaries Trust Tmt.Thangam Viswanath and Tmt.Sarojini Varadappan decided to opt education as one W.I.A’s Project Accordingly the three women started a nursery school with 3 children in Dec 1948 at Government Estate, Annasalai.
The school thus started grew into 3 schools with more than 1000 students. 1. Nursery Primary School (English medium) 2.Primary School (Tamil Medium) 3. High School (Tamil Medium). The Tamil medium Schools receive staff – grant from the Education Department.
All the students are from the educationally, financially and socially backward areas. For the past 75 Years all the three Schools are doing selfless service to the satisfaction of the department, parents and public.
The Tamilnadu Government has passed an order to build Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly and secretariat complex in the Government Estate. So our school was relocated at Chindathripet
Our school is functioning at Chindatripet since 2009 as Primary and High School with nearly 150 students and 13 teaching staff and 1 non – teaching staff. The fallen strength is due to clearance of slums at Central and Chindathripet and they are relocated in perumbakkam.
In addition to imparting education according to the curriculum co-curricular activities like Yoga, Karate, Kummi, Kollattam, Mime, Therukoothu and folk dances are taught to them. The Students are good at games and sports activities too.
We have been producing 90 – 100% result in the X std State Board Examination. We hope to attain centum result in future.
We have started this academic year 2022 – 2023 with a great enthusiasm. We have conducted programs on Education, Women Empowerment and Life skills. Various awareness programs were conducted for the benefit of the students as well as the public. We have celebrated all the National Festivals with a great zeal and patriotism. Various competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed both at school level and Zonal level. Our extended effort in meeting philanthropist improved our school in various aspects.
Expenditure on infrastructural development, maintenance and repairs are met with the help of the good hearted philanthropist for the past 75 years.
